Children In Need November 2008

Four Oaks Primary School was taken over by Pudsey bear last Friday. Every child from Reception through to Year 6 was invited to bring a bear to school in exchange for a 50p donation to ‘ Children In Need ‘. In lessons, assemblies, playtimes and at lunchtime, the bears were escorted round the building by the pupils, it was a real sight to see.

To further mark the special day, all of the children in Year 3 at Four Oaks also put on an assembly for parents and fellow pupils, to highlight the plight of children in need around the country. The parents left with a smile on their faces but also an important message in their heads.

In the afternoon the children put on a giant cake sale, offering all kind of cakes they had made in school the previous week, and organised fund raising games based on Pudsey Bear. Once the sweeping up had been done there wasn’t a crumb left in sight !

The children and staff were fantastic, organising themselves into teams so that the day could run smoothly. It was a day when the pupils put their own interest to one side and really thought about the needs of others. The pupils and staff raised £484 which will go towards the total fundraising figure for Children In Need.
