St Giles Hospice 

On Wednesday 5th May representatives from Four Oaks Primary School were invited to go along to the grand opening of the new wing of St. Giles Hospice in Whttington, near Lichfield. St. Giles Hospice is a centre where people who are very ill are cared for and the whole centre is run on donations of money from different people. They were opening their new Compassus Centre. 

The Compassus Centre has been built at a cost of £8.5 million and will help to meet the demand for St Giles’ specialist care by increasing bed capacity at Whittington from 18 beds to 27. The centre aims to deliver enhanced patient choice and control over their environment so that they can be with their families in comfortable, relaxed and personalised surroundings.

St. Giles were very excited about this development in their service and were keen to share the opening with members of the community that they serve.

Each room in the building was been named after a town or village in the community that they serve and they wanted to invite people from that area to go along to cut the ribbon and officially open the room for them. Mr Benton, along with a pupil from year 6 and her mother, who is a governor of the school, were only too happy to go along and be part of this special event and cut the ribbon on the 'Four Oaks Room'. 

Four Oaks hopes to form a strong link with St. Giles in the future and do some fundraising to help them in their excellent work !
