Recently our Year 5 pupils have been introduced to the works of William Shakespeare. They have been reading some of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and some of "Romeo and Juliet". As well as his plays they have also been reading some of his poems, in particular his sonnets. A sonnet is a poem of fourteen lines having ten syllables per line. The children have also been branching out and writing some of their own sonnets, so why not click on William Shakespeare below to read some of their super writing !
