Y4 on Safari at Akamba
On Tuesday Year 4 went all the way to Africa, via Shirley ! We visited Akamba, an African garden centre, to support our ‘stories from other cultures’ unit of work in literacy.
As we arrived our Masai guide greeted us with, ‘Karibuni!’ which means welcome all, in Swahili and we started our adventure! We explored the palms and metal animal sculptures, sketching our journeys as we went. We will be using these story paths to write our own tales set in Africa back at school. We learnt some new words in Swahili and tasted some delicious African food!
Asante sana to everyone at Akamba,
(Mrs Morris and Miss Tarver)
Akamba was amazing there was lots of beautiful sights to see I loved the metal animals that seemed real in your own imagination. The African food was delicious. And the masai worrior was amazing. It will really help me to write a story set in Africa.
